Review of Confessions of a Young Man

The chapters of George Moore’s Confessions of a Young Man which I wish to emulate here are chapters one and two. The chapters concern the early years of the protagonist Dwayne (presumed to be Moore himself). He speaks about his father, his childhood, his trip to France and how the people he met influenced his life. In the text, Moore’s style shifts smoothly from describing past events that have already occurred to describing events in the present tense, an example of this would be Moore’s own thoughts at the time these events occurred; “Why not write comedy?
