Article Marketing – How to Write Your Articles to Get More Clicks

Whenever I write an article, I try my best to keep it short, clean and to the point. I am always thinking about how to keep my readers attention from the title to the resource box so they will click my link and go to my website.

That’s what I think about all the time, how am I going to increase my URL clicks in my resource box? I try to approach my articles similar to a sales letter where I provide my readers with useful information and try to get them involved in my articles by asking them question and making them think as they read.

My articles usually start out with an interesting intro that keeps them on their toes wondering what am I going to write next.

After the intro I would remind them about the problem that I am going to solve. I would then answer the problem in the simplest way possible so the reader can easily grab the information.

Whenever I write an article I tend to leave out the closing paragraph.

Why would you leave the concluding paragraph out?

I leave it out because almost all article readers assume that after the body there will be a short paragraph reminding them about what they’ve just learned.

Now when I don’t provide them with a closing paragraph the reader will feel like they are missing something important.

What this does is build curiosity which increases my chances of getting my URL clicked.

And this is how I get the majority of my traffic.

Analysis of a Prayer For My Daughter – W B Yeats

William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), the celebrated Irish poet, the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923, needs no introduction. The Irish identity was very strong in him and as an active member of the Irish National Revival, he tried his best to add Celtic legends to evoke the glorious past of his land. In a time when the world was much fragmented, he endeavored to create a unified perspective of things that is cohesive and all encompassing. The poem is an intense expression of how Yeats felt after his daughter Anne was born although the ideas conveyed go far beyond the personal.   

Theme of the Poem

The poem portrays how a father, who has been blessed with a daughter, prays for the future happiness and welfare of her. The poet hopes that instead of growing up to be a very beautiful woman, his daughter should be blessed with the attributes of a virtuous and great soul. She should be well-mannered and full of humility rather than being strongly opinionated, to avoid intellectual detestation because that can drown her in misery.

Summary

In the beginning, Yeats talks about the storm having commenced brewing in the seas. Between his newly born daughter and the sea, there stand a bare hill and Gregory’s woods which might not thwart the storm from reaching the helpless infant. The father is naturally worried as he senses the gale striking the tower and the undersides of the bridges. To his mind, the storm presages the future of her daughter having arrived with a rage, mounting from the seeming innocence of the sea. As a father, the poet wishes beauty for her daughter but not such voluptuousness that would engross others to distraction or make her vain.

He does not want her daughter to be bereft of kindness nor does he want her to fail in choosing the persons with whom she will be friendly. The father shudders at the thought of her daughter’s turning to be another Helen of Troy, who couldn’t help being unfaithful as she was so beautiful. Some lovely women like the queen who had not had her father imposing useful restraints upon her, chose an ordinary smith with warped legs, instead of marrying a handsome yet virtuous man matching her handsome looks and social standing. It is strange how exquisitely beautiful women often choose ‘a crazy salad’ (an undeserving husband) to go ‘with their meat’ (rich food or their great beauty).

His daughter should realize that she should be deserving of winning human hearts. She should not be like those crafty women who employ their charms to use people to their advantage. It is true that men fall head over heels for stunning females but it is really the compassion of the women which they get enamored by in the end. The father in the poet is keen that her daughter should be like a tree giving succour and shade to people when she grows up and her feelings should be like the sweet song of the linnet that spreads joy for the sake of doing so. It is very likely that she will sometime desire something intensely in a wrong spirit or engage in some strife at times but let them be transient and not very serious. Let her be like an evergreen tree; let her send her roots into the depth of her good convictions standing at the same place.

The poet is rueful that his running after the people he liked or the kind of gorgeousness that he was infatuated with, could not satiate him as he wanted and that he is weary of all the barrenness that has enveloped him now. He seems to get momentarily confused as to what could be the right sort of beauty. He has however no hatred toward anyone as he is absolutely sure that it is the worst kind of malevolence that could poison his life. He wants her daughter also to learn this truth before she allows her to be ruled by the negative force of hatred because such a mindset will save her from inviting harsh criticism or abuses being showered upon her. The poet would not like her daughter to be self-opinionated as that could lead her to practising intellectual loathing which the poet considers to be the worst kind of malady in a human being.

He recollects coming in close contact with a beautiful and accomplished woman who had to give away everything by being strongly biased. The truth rings clearly in the poet’s mind that by removing all hatred from one’s mind, the soul not only regains its innocence but also embarks on the journey of delighting in itself. Since the spirit of the soul is the will of God, he fervently prays that his daughter should be able to discover her soul and be happy in the face of any storm or disapproval. And finally, as a father, he hopes that she will be betrothed to a man who has for ever steered away from detestation and arrogance which is so common everywhere. Let the house of her husband be comfortable and secure but not at the expense of anyone.

Article Writing Techniques – How to Write a Product Review

Why is it so essential to learn how to write a product review effectively? Well, did you know that buyers trust a consumer review 12 times more than the manufacturer’s one? In fact, 90% of people trust recommendations from their friends and 70% trust those of unknown users. If you can write an article that gives a full review and get it ranked in search results, you can be the one that earns the most commissions sales of that product. Not bad for a little bit of research and writing.

Before getting into some of the more creative techniques for writing product reviews, you need to know the key elements to include in your article. They are:

1. Overview of product.

Your review should always start with a brief overview of the product you are reviewing. You don’t need to go into a lot of detail here. Readers just need to know that this is a something they should be interested in and which might solve their problem.

2. Key features.

Give a list of the key features, benefits and specifications of the product. Usually you can get this from the sales page of the manufacturer or product creator. Bulleted lists work best so that readers can quickly pick out the features their most interested in.

3. Your own experience.

People want to hear first-hand the experience of a product user. If you haven’t used the product yourself, then your review is going to be at a disadvantage from the start. Yes, you can use the reviews of others. However, it is always best to share your own personal experiences and examples wherever possible.

4. Reviews from other buyers.

Your opinion isn’t enough. Readers want to see a number of reviews to bolster your own experience. That’s why places like Amazon are so popular. You can usually read and summarize other buyers’ reviews from sites like Amazon or from testimonials on the product’s sales page.

5. Pros and cons.

Always give a summary of both positives and negatives about the product. Nothing is perfect. Your review will be far more credible if you admit that there are a few flaws or downsides to the product. Hopefully they are only minor or you wouldn’t be giving it a positive review in the first place.

6. Image.

It goes without saying that buyers want to see what they’ll be getting. Include at least one good quality picture of the product in your review.

7. Call to action.

Every article should always include a call to action at the end. Tell people exactly what they should do next. For a product review article, that usually means clicking on a link to go to the product sales page.

Aside from these 7 elements, there are a few additional techniques you can incorporate to really make your product review article pack a punch:

Video reviews. People love to see a real person reviewing a product. It makes it far more believable and realistic. When you put your own face into your review, viewers know that you mean what you say. Even just showing images of the product while describing it out loud can make a big difference, in case you’re camera-shy.

Images of your own. Don’t just rely on the product creator’s pictures. In many cases, those images don’t show everything. Try taking photos of the product from different angles and, if relevant, images of you using it in action.

Tips for using the product. An extra element to include in your review is a series of tips for using the product. Write about what you have learned from your own experience, including what works best and what to avoid.

Video testimonials from other people. If they are available from the product creator, or if you can produce your own, include some videos of other users talking about the product and what they liked about it.

Ways to overcome the negatives. While you need to include some cons in your review, that doesn’t mean you have to make them a big factor in the purchasing decision. Talk about ways to overcome these negatives. Or, it may be that the negatives are only relevant for certain people. You may even point out a few negatives that were relatively inconsequential for you.

Finally, make sure to optimize your entire product review article for a specific keyword phrase. It won’t be found otherwise. Your goal should be for your review to be found first when a person is searching for information about that product. Usually that means have the product name plus the word review in your phrase. It should be in your article title, first paragraph, closing paragraph and in at least one sub-header and image tag.

Authors: Why You Should NOT Learn How to Market

Not all authors should spend time learning how to market. That may go against conventional wisdom, but it’s true.

In reality, some authors are not willing to put in the time or effort to do what it takes to market their books. Some get downright nasty towards those of us who are making money with our writing, blaming everything but themselves for their lack of success in selling books.

Recently, I was hosted on a webinar by a colleague to share insights on how to market books. The response by 99% of the people was incredibly positive. But there were a few who were upset at the amount of work I said it takes to market books.

I suppose they preferred I lie and say, “Oh yes, you can sell tons of books and put no work into the process at all.” I won’t do that.

What they wrote

Here are a few of the emails I received from authors who are not willing to do much more than write.

“It shouldn’t be that hard. My book is really good. Why won’t people just buy it?” one person wrote.

“I like to write. I want to sell books, but I don’t want to have to market.”

“All of you so-called “experts” make it sound so easy, but the average person has no idea where to start. All you do is sell a load of crap to people who will never be able to make this work.”

Really?!

To authors like this my response is simple… write your books knowing you will likely be in the group that never sells more than a handful of books.

We all started at the same place

I started where every author starts. I had a dream to be a successful author who makes money with my writing while transforming people through my words. To do this, I HAD to learn how to market. No two ways about it.

I’ve spent years, and thousands upon thousands of dollars, countless hours and lots of energy to get really, really good at what I do. It didn’t happen by chance, but rather by design.

I liken authors who want to sell boatloads of books without any work to those who say they want to get in great shape, but don’t want to stop eating junk food, don’t want to exercise and don’t want to replace bad habits with good ones.

You can want it all you want, but you won’t achieve the outcome.

Here’s the deal…

Selling books takes work. Selling books takes vision. Selling books takes strategy. And… if you want to be sustainable as an author, it takes writing good books.

If you’re not willing to put the time in to do the work, learn how to market and be consistent in your efforts, no problem.

But please, don’t blame others for the fact you’re not selling books. Take a look at what you are and are not doing.
