Newspaper Analysis – Students are required to choose ONE newspaper
editorial/article for analysis from an equity perspective. Approved
editorials/articles will be handed out in class: For the analysis of the
editorial/article, students should: 1) identify the equity issue(s) addressed; 2)
summarize the author’s point of view; 3) drawing upon the course material
provide a historical context to the issue(s) and/or the author’s arguments; and 4)
drawing upon the course material discuss to what extent the author’s comments
advance and/or inhibit the achievement of equity. Further guidelines for the
assignment will be handed out in class.
