Put yourself in the place of a woman who is the carrier of fragile X syndrome but who wants to have children. Would you become pregnant, adopt, use a surrogate mother, or give up your desire for parenthood? Explain. If you became pregnant, would you opt for prenatal diagnosis? Why or why not?
Do you think all parents should have the option to use genetic engineering to create “designer babies”? How do you feel about this idea?
