How to Choose The Best Online Marketing Strategy

In order to choose the best of all the online marketing strategies, it is necessary to first list all the possible choices you have, then examine them in light of your strengths and weaknesses. In this article, I will show you how to rate some marketing techniques, then how to choose the best for you.

So, grab a pencil & paper or clean text document.

1. List all of the marketing strategies you either already use or would like to learn. is it article marketing, solo ads in ezines, video marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing, social media, Pay per Click (PPC) or others?

2. Make a strengths and weaknesses chart.

Are you a good writer or poor?

Does it take you a long time to compose an email or are you quick?

Do you learn visually, by hearing or by doing it manually?

Are you patient or impatient?

Do you have a full-time job with not much time?

Do you have lots of time with little money?

What do you like to do? What really floats your boat?

This first list will allow you to rank the items, somewhat objectively, while the second will help you fine-tune it to your needs.

3. Now take a fresh sheet (physical or computer generated) and list the following terms vertically, like this.

Cost:

Skill:

Long Term:

Speed:

Over All Score.

4. Next take one of your strategies and rate each term according to a 4 star system, with 4 being the greatest or most and 1 being the least.

Let’s take an example —

SOLO ADS IN EZINES

Although the cost varies, you usually do have to pay and it can be expensive, so…

Cost: 3 stars

The skill you need to submit a solo ad is small. Your company likely has an ad to use.

Skill: 1 star

The ad will be placed in the ezine for one time only, so it would not have longevity.

Long Term: 1 star

Speed: very quick It is easy to submit. Give it 4 stars.

Over All Score: 3.5 stars since the small skills and short term cancel each other out. We judge the final score using the cost, which is large with the speed which is fast.

Get the picture?

Let’s take another example:

VIDEO MARKETING

Video Marketing, low cost – 1 star. Most people marketing today already have a camcorder, webcam with microphone, or cell phone with video, so there’s no extra cost. Even if you do not have the equipment you can use a free video service by adding photos and text. Google “create free videos online.”

Skill: 1 star. You don’t have to be a George Lukas

Long term: 4 stars Load it up to YouTube and you’re there for life.

Speed: I’ll give it 3 stars because there is some work involved

Over All score. Because of the ease of use, I would give it a good 3 stars

Continue on to examine your other strategies in the same manner.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

Your final step is to look at your strengths and weaknesses.

If you hate writing and don’t have $5.00 to outsource an article, article marketing is not a good strategy for you.

Are you patient, willing to take the time to learn a new skill? Would it be fun for you?

If you don’t have much time, but have money, you have lots of options. You can outsource your workload for very little via the Internet.

Do you think you lack skill for creating videos? Don’t let that stop you because the most important point to consider when you are looking to see what is right for you is not cost, skills or long term effects. It is what do you really enjoy doing?

If you love to take pictures, don’t let inexperience stop you. Go for it and choose video marketing as at least one of your online marketing strategies.
